I created the above image by combining primarily photo manipulation techniques with a little computer graphic painting. The original photo was of a sunset taken by me outside of a memorial service for the mother of a long-time neighbor and family friend. The photo’s setting and artistic process, as much as the final product, inspired the poem I wrote (below) to accompany it.
The Spirit Takes Flight
~~to the all the artists who inspire my poetic muse~~
When I stand on my head,
as the sun slips away
and imagine the sky
in soft shades of gray,
I see the white wings
of the Spirit take flight,
shielding me from
the onslaught of night.

Thank you. I appreciate that you took the time to share your opinion. Sometimes I wonder if people just happen upon my blog by mistake, and don’t actually read it, because so few comment. If you haven’t yet, you may enjoy looking at some of the other poetry on this site. Just click “poetry” or look at the category “Creative”.

I will look further into your site. I love poetry and use of positive words to encourage belief in yourself and those around you.
I agree, sometimes I don’t think anyone cares about what I write, but I enjoy it and if I only reach one person I have done my job to inspire them. I am just starting to blog more frequently and organizing all my blogs. If interested please check out my posts. More to come. Thanks

Good attitude and I agree, but some days get a little “lonely”. Take care. Good luck. The more you learn, the easier it is to get sucked into blogging. Don’t let blogging overpower you. 🙂 If your blog ever becomes too much for you, you can always consider submitting to this site. I have found sharing the burden a relief. Oh, I did want to say, “searching” doesn’t work as well as I’d like, not even from the WordPress Dashboard so browsing titles in the Mind Over Matter category (at top of blog) is most likely to lead you to poetry so far.

Hi exceptional website! Does running a blog such as this require a lot of work? I have virtually no expertise in computer programming but I was hoping to start my own blog soon. Anyways, if you have any suggestions or techniques for new blog owners please share. I understand this is off topic however I just wanted to ask. Thanks a lot!

rsl or Neil, your message contained a URL identified as a blog. However, it is apparently used for selling a product. My software identified it has spam. The URL has been removed. I don’t care for dishonesty. Thank you for your comment.
